Why Namibia

Space, silence and impossible light

Namibia is the desert doing things you did not think deserts could do. Dunes the colour of embers rising three hundred metres above a white clay pan. Elephants that have learned to live on almost nothing, walking dry riverbeds at dawn. A coastline where the sand meets the Atlantic in fog, littered with shipwrecks and seal colonies. You will drive or fly between lodges that sit alone in landscapes the size of small countries, and at night the sky performs: Namibia has some of the darkest, clearest skies on the planet. This is a journey about scale and silence. It suits photographers, couples and anyone whose idea of luxury is having a horizon entirely to themselves. Nowhere else we plan feels quite this open.
