Congo

The Congo is for travellers who thought they had seen it all. This is rainforest on a scale that changes how you think about the word, a green world where lowland gorillas move through the mist and forest elephants gather in sunlit clearings called bais. You will travel by boat and light aircraft, sleep in remote lodges run by pioneering conservation teams, and spend mornings tracking gorilla families with expert guides who know each individual by name. Almost nobody comes here. That is exactly the point. The sightings are intimate, the forests are pristine, and the feeling of distance from your ordinary life is total. It is not the easiest journey we plan, but ask anyone who has done it: it is one of the greatest.
